So it begins…
Hi there!
I’m so excited to welcome you to my very first blog post. This space is something I’ve been dreaming about for a while—a place where I can blend education, inspiration, and real-life strategies to help you lighten the weight of the mental load in your daily life. My goal is to share personal stories, insights, and practical tools that are easy to understand and implement, so you can feel less overwhelmed and more in control.
A Little About Me
For the past 14 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping individuals and families as a licensed clinical social worker. I’ve worked in a variety of settings, supporting people through life’s toughest challenges. A few years ago, I took a step away from social work after a major life transition. At the time, it felt like the right move—but as the months passed, I realized something was missing.
I missed the deep, meaningful work of helping people transform their lives. That realization led me back to practice therapy, where I joined a group practice and felt inspired all over again. There’s something incredibly powerful about providing a space for people to process trauma, explore deep-seated anxiety and depression, and uncover what makes them whole.
Then, in April 2024, I had an epiphany—a moment of clarity that pushed me to explore something new: life coaching. The idea of helping people move forward in direct, structured ways to build a more fulfilling life excited me. After extensive research, I took the leap, pursued certification, and Blossom Life Coaching was born.
Why the Mental Load?
Through my personal life and professional work, I kept coming back to a common theme: the mental load—the invisible weight of managing daily responsibilities, planning, and emotional labor that often falls disproportionately on one person in a partnership. Many people aren’t even aware of how much this affects them until they’re completely burned out.
So, what exactly is the mental load?
It’s the behind-the-scenes work that keeps life running smoothly—remembering appointments, managing schedules, anticipating needs, organizing tasks, and making sure everything gets done. While this is often discussed in the context of partnership (where women frequently carry the heavier burden in heterosexual partnerships), it’s important to recognize that single individuals and single parents experience this too. The difference? They don’t have a partner to share the load with—it’s all on them.
What You Can Expect from This Blog
I created this blog to shine a light on what the mental load is, how it impacts your life, and—most importantly—how you can lighten it. Whether you’re in a partnership, a single parent, or managing everything on your own, I want to provide real, actionable strategies to help you feel less stressed, more balanced, and in control.
I can’t wait to take this journey with you!
